Job Description:
Room at the Inn (RATI), Marquette, one of Michigan's emergency homeless shelters, is seeking passionate individuals for the position of Street Outreach Case Management.
The Street Outreach Case Manager provides support for Room At The Inn guests and community members by assessing their needs, developing strategies and action plans, and making referrals to community agencies and resources.
Organization Overview:
Room at the Inn has been a vital resource to Marquette citizens experiencing homelessness, since 2007.
We are both a low-barrier and behavior-based shelter, meaning there are no income, sobriety, or identification requirements for entry into our shelter.
Our only requirements for access to shelter is that you are literally homeless and willing to actively work on a housing plan with our case managers.
Our Warming Center houses 25-30 individuals per night, prepares approximately 100 meals a day and actively works with guests in developing their self-sufficiency.
Position's purpose:
The Street Outreach Case Manager will work in partnership with Room at the Inn staff and the 10-County Balance of State Continuum of Care Local Planning Body.
Within their capacity, the Street Outreach Case Manager will provide direct housing navigation services to individuals and families experiencing unsheltered homelessness, in shelter, who are chronically homeless, or have been identified as Housing First acuity through the VI-SPDAT throughout the designated counties that they serve.
Contact referrals for individuals in sheltered and unsheltered will be communicated by the HARA's (aka Community Action Alger-Marquette) Housing Resource Navigator.
Job responsibilities and
Essential Functions:
Provide effective navigation, relocation and stabilization services to clients in shelter and unsheltered, who are chronically homeless, and/or are identified as Housing First acuity through the VI-SPDAT, to obtain permanent housing accommodations.
Meet with each new guest conduct basic intake to determine his/her needs.
Create strategies and/or an action plan to help reach his/her goals.
Maintain and update written records of basic information regarding each guest.
Meet with guests on a regular schedule to track their progress in meeting goals.
Advocate for the homeless in the community by helping them to obtain needed treatment, resources and training from community programs.
Keeping regular hours to meet with guests and work with them.
Appear for work neatly attired and ready to work and represent the RATI program.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times Evaluate program, services, and resources for quality Respond to crisis situations that affect venerable/mentally unstable guests.
Influence community and policymakers to develop programs, policies, and services to assist our guests.
Report to the supervisor (Executive Director) on any guest that fails to comply with RATI rules or fails to comply with requirements of his/her program.
Help guests to transition to their new residence.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all Room At The Inn church coordinators and volunteers as well as local agency & service providers Must be able to work effectively with homeless people.
Maintain a safe and organized office environment.
Assure compliance with all agency policies, procedures, and standards.
Assure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements.
Promote Room at the Inn programs and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be committed to working with individuals experiencing homelessness and have an appreciation for an individual's personal & professional development.
An understanding of trauma informed care and de-escalation are appreciated, but not required to apply.
Additional training will be provided, if selected.
Candidates must be able to interact and work effectively with guests and fellow staff members.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a necessity.
Successful candidates will be organized, resourceful, collaborative, self-motivated, flexible, responsible, detail-oriented, and willing to embrace any situation.
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field is required or a certificate in related field and two years experience or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
It is an expectation that candidates demonstrate excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
Must be able to work independently, be creative and flexible, and provide crisis management.
Be self - directed and able to work without supervision and comfortable in a fast paced environment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
